THE BENEFITS OF FILTER COFFEE

Filter coffee is uncomplicated, honest, and full of flavor—perfect for your everyday coffee enjoyment. With the right beans, the right grind, and a few tricks, every cup becomes a highlight.

THE RIGHT BEAN

THE RIGHT GRIND

  • Setting: The grind size influences the extraction of your filter coffee.
Too coarse: The coffee runs through too quickly and tastes thin and watery (under-extraction).
Too fine: The coffee runs through too slowly and tastes bitter (over-extraction).
  • Recommendation: For filter coffee, a medium grind is suitable, similar to fine sand.

CORRECT INTENSITY & DOSAGE

WATER QUANTITY & CLEANING

  • Use of filtered water:
Too much limescale or chlorine impairs the taste – soft, filtered water brings out your aroma better.
  • Recommended water quantities:
    Standard cup: 200 ml
    Large pot (1L): 60–70 g of coffee
  • Water temperature:
Optimal brewing temperature: 92–96 °C (not boiling!)
Water that is too hot can burn the coffee, while water that is too cold will not extract enough flavor.
  • Tip: Use a kettle with a temperature setting or let boiling water stand for about 30 seconds before pouring it.
